Mrs. Allie Phillips, age 97 of Clinton (formerly of Devonia), went home to be with the Lord Monday December 2nd, 2019. Mrs. Phillips was born November 18, 1922 in the Devonia community in Anderson County, TN. She was a lifelong resident of this area and a member of the Free Communion Baptist Church. She was primarily a homemaker and spent her life taking care of her family, gardening, canning and cooking. She was well known for the great cook that she was. She had a wonderful smile that would light up a home.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Maynard and Emily Byrge Bunch; husband, Leodis Phillips; and grandchildren: Chuckie Coday, D.J. Phillips, and Ashley Phillips.
She is survived by her children: Shirley (Charles) Coday, Bobbie (Glen) Russell, Odis (Georgia) Phillips, Junior (Nadine) Phillips, Davy Phillips, Shelia (Robert) Justice, Jerry (Kate) Phillips, and Larry Phillips; 14 grandchildren, several great and great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A special thanks to the staff of the Waters of Clinton for their special care in her last days.
The family will receive friends Tuesday December 3rd from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Schubert Funeral Home in Wartburg. The funeral will follow at 8:00 with Bro. Tom McCool officiating. The graveside service will be held Wednesday December 4th at 11:00 a.m. in the Anderson Memorial Gardens in Clinton, TN.
