Homer M. Winegar age 94, surrounded by his family went on to be with the Lord and the Love of his Life on Friday, November 23, 2018 at the Life Care Center of Morgan County.
Homer is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years Junie (Collins) Winegar, parents Clint and Belle Winegar, brothers Clyde and Joe, sisters Donna, Pearl and Rosie.
Survivors are son and daughter-in-law: Randy and Melissa Winegar
Grand-daughters: Meghan (Justin) Dagley, and Alisha Winegar
Great-Grand-Daughters: Braylee and Teylee Dagley who were his ray of sunshine.
Also surviving is a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Homer was born in Scott County Virginia but grew up in Kingsport Tennessee. After serving in England and Germany during World War II, he and June Bug made their home in Tennessee. After retiring from the Roane Electric Steel Mill, he worked for the Morgan County Sanitation Department and the Morgan County Head Start.
Serving the Lord was his heart’s desire and he was a charter member of the Shady Grove Baptist Church in Lancing.
The family will receive friends on Monday, November 26, 2018 from 6 to 8 pm Schubert Funeral Home, Wartburg. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 am Shady Grove Baptist Church in Lancing, with Rev. Billy Durham officiating, interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.
