Anderson "Arlie" Gregg

Anderson “Arlie” Gregg, age 95, of Lancing, TN, passed away Saturday, March 22, 2026, at Greenfield Healthcare Center. He was born in Newport, TN on January 7, 1931, to Anderson (Dock) and Jessie Mae (Killion) Gregg. Arlie served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He married Charline (Swint) on January 22, 1954, in Clinton, Tennessee.

Along with being a wonderful brother, husband, father and grandfather, Arlie loved his children, family, and everyone he met. Arlie and his wife were entrepreneurs owning and operating Gregg’s Fashions in Greenfield and Franklin, Indiana, all while working full-time until retirement from Ford Motor Company in Indianapolis. Arlie was a proud veteran of the Korean war and mason.

While growing up in the mountains of east Tennessee, Arlie was a faithful member of Elizabeth Baptist Church in Lancing, Tennessee. Arlie went to a small school in Manning Chapel while growing up in Del Rio, Tennessee and back then he went to school until the eighth grade, then home to work on the family farm.

After retirement, Arlie and Charline returned to Tennessee to spend their retirement years back in the mountains around their family and back closer to Arlie’s roots.

He is survived by his children, Gary L. (Lydia) Gregg, Bryan K. (Rhonda) Gregg, and Jeffrey A. (Tamara Robbins) Gregg; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Geraldine (Denver) Gregg. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anderson (Dock) and Jessie Mae Gregg; wife, Charline Gregg; daughter-in-law, Diana L. Gregg; grandson, Cody A. Gregg; and siblings, Glen Woodrow Gregg, Edith (Sol) Chandler, Earl Gregg, Cora Aileen (Robert Hal) Jeffrie, Ottis (Loretta) Gregg, Denver Gregg, Emma Dean (John) Brooks, and Madge (Fred) Renner.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Schubert Funeral Home, 1318 Knoxville Hwy, Wartburg, TN 37887. A funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation at 2:00 p.m. Brother Buster Armes will be officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Elizabeth Baptist Church Cemetery in Lancing, Tennessee.
