Cecil McCarty, age 78, passed away at home surrounded by family. Cecil spent his career working with the local Painter’s Union. He was known for his love and knowledge of classic cars and was an avid fan and follower of NASCAR, Mopar and fishing. He was a Christian and had extensive knowledge of the Bible.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil Sr. and Lucille McCarty, brothers Bill and John all of Kentucky. In-laws, Charles and Ann Wilkie of Wartburg, infant great grandson, Eli Wiley Kennedy, and Best friend and fellow car enthusiast, Wayne Clevenger.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Teresa. Sons Eddie (Heather), Robert (Allison) of Kentucky, Wayne (Kayleigh) of Coalfield and Bryson of the home; Daughters Louanna (Fred) Shirks and Crystal (Joey) Purcell; Brother Charlie (Fran), sister-in-laws Carol and Emma McCarty all of Kentucky; Fifteen Grandchildren, 15 Great Grandchildren two Great-great Grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews; Extended family, Kristy Smith and Dorothy (Dew) Williams. Special car buddies, Jeff and Scotty Hall, Frank Hester, and Bill Gregory.
The family will receive friends Thursday, September 4, 2025 at Schubert Funeral Home in Wartburg from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. with the funeral to follow at 7:00 p.m., Wayne McCarty officiating. The family is honoring Cecil’s wishes to be cremated.
