Danny Rouse, of Lancing

John Daniel Rouse was born in Oak Ridge, Tn October 31, 1968, and passed away after a short battle with cancer in Nashville on March 28, 2023.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents Bonnie & Jr. Bates and Father: Norris Kent Rouse; stepfather Jerry Holmes; uncle Johnny L. (Marie) Bates; great uncle Milford Bates; aunt Louise Brock; previous wife Ladena Faye Cochran Rouse.

Left to cherish his memory, mother Cathy Bates Holmes; fiancé Sandria Howell; sister Nicole Rouse Davis; daughters Calie Rouse of Lancing, Abigail Eubanks of Jackson, Tn.; sons John Ross Westley (Chelsea) Rouse, Daniel Wade (Maddison) Rouse; grandchildren Carter Lee Rouse, Ava Saige Rouse, Aydan Gauge Cook, Alyie Shyann Cleghorn, John Weston Rouse,  Aunt Alecia (Dave) Hawley, Uncle Anthony (Linda) Bates, Uncle Stanley (Reba) Bates; special friend Austin Jarnagin and Pete Bonfiglio and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

If Danny were here, he would say “don’t cry for me, Im not hurting and Im happy and I wish you could see”.  He loved to make people laugh and was very good at it.  He was gifted with writing poems of humor and singing and playing his harmonica.  His smile could light up any room and he could dress up quite nicely but preferred to wear his overalls and the vols.  He would always say “Well aren’t I going to be me”?!  And that’s just who he was and that’s all he expected from others is to be themselves.  He would help a stranger in a heartbeat and latterly has taken his shirt off in freezing weather to provide a stranger with warmth.

The family will receive friends Saturday, April 1, 2023, at Schubert Funeral Home in Wartburg from 5:00-7:00 p.m. with the funeral to follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Ricky Taylor officiating.  Graveside services will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Bates Family Cemetery in Lancing.
