Gary Phillip Harvey, age 69 of Sunbright, Tennessee passed away peacefully at his home on March 22, 2026.

Born November 9, 1956, in Sandusky, Ohio, Gary spent much of his early life in Tampa, Florida, before moving to Clintwood, Virginia, at the age of 15. He later settled in Johnson City, where he met the love of his life, Pamela Jane Mankin. Gary and Pamela were married for 24 years and built a life centered around family and lasting memories.

Gary proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, carrying that sense of dedication and strength throughout his life.

He was a proud father to three children, Donald Joseph “DJ” Harvey, wife Lynn, Amanda Marie Harvey Smith and husband Gregory Smith, and James Brandon Harvey and wife, Brittany Harvey.

Gary was a loving grandfather to ten grandchildren, Seth Webber, Alyssa Harvey, Madeline Webber, Kaleb Rush, Addison Harvey, Riley King, James Jones, Gregory Smith Jr., Quentin Smith, and Legend Smith.

Gary is also survived by his significate other Lois Hawn of 20+ years; step son Jason Hawn; stepdaughter Sherry Jones and husband Brad; step grandchildren, Jaxson, Chrissy, Devin, and Sophie.

Gary will be remembered as a spirited and charismatic man who was truly the life of the party. In his younger years, he was an All-Star athlete in High School, a reflection of his drive and passion. More importantly, he was a devoted and supportive father who embraced each of his children for who they were, always encouraging them to be themselves and standing by them with unwavering love.

He also had a deep love for his dogs, especially Brandy, Beady, and Ranger, who brought him great joy and companionship.

His presence, laughter, and strength will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

The family is honoring Gary’s wishes to be cremated.
