Geneva Spradlin, of Wartburg

Geneva Spradlin went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 2nd, 2021. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gorman “minnowhead” Spradlin; daughter, Delonha ‘Donnie” Heidel; son, James Spradlin; son-in-law, Billy Price;  father, Leslie Stephens and stepmother Mary Stephens, mother, Betty (Crabtree) Turner;  sisters, Lois Stephens, Ruby Hall, Wilma King, and Barbara Kilby; brothers, James, Louie, Charles, and Gary Stephens; great grandsons, Alexander and Dakota Heidel, great granddaughter Celena Price, and great-great granddaughter Sydney Hope Heidel.  She is survived by her daughters, Norma Price, Pamela Kay (Wayne) Gibbs, Sandra (Michael) Roysden, Deborah (John) Mallett; son, Steve (Sue) Spradlin; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Spradlin; son-in-law, Garland Heidel; sisters, Jeanette Kerlin and Kathy Brown, 17 grandchildren, and many great and great-great grandchildren.

Geneva lived most of her 95 years in Wartburg and was a much loved and respected member of the community.  She committed her life to Jesus at 14 years old and was faithful to Him for the remaining 81 years of her life.  She joined Annadell Baptist Church after she moved to Wartburg as a young wife and mother and remained a dedicated member there for 65 years.  She loved to sing in the choir and participate in all church activities.  She always cherished her extended church family and regularly shared with everyone how blessed she was with her faith, her family, and her solid belief that we will all meet again someday.

Geneva worked in the Wartburg Central High School cafeteria in various capacities and retired after 25 years of service; she became lovingly known as “granny” by most of the students she served.  She loved to raise her garden and worked tirelessly to preserve all it produced.   She enjoyed fishing with her husband, camping with her seven children, and ensuring that her family was faithful to the house of the Lord.

The family will receive friends Friday, February 5, 2021 at Schubert Funeral Home in Wartburg from 12:00-2:00 p.m.  The funeral service will be held immediately after visitation with Bro. Bill Goodman and Bro. Joey Aytes officiating.  Interment will follow at the Annadell Church Cemetery in Lancing.
