Georgene “Gigi” Schooler, age 83, was called home to be with the Lord on September 17, 2019.
Gigi was born on July 14, 1936 to Frank and Phoebe Manass in Wheelwright, KY. She was raised there until her family moved to Baltimore, MD in the 1950’s. From there, she traveled the country and globe as a dedicated military spouse and found adventure in each new location. She lived a full life rich in the service to others and was adored by all who she came into contact with. Gigi was known for her love of home, family, community, good food, and high heeled shoes.
After living everywhere from Kentucky, Maryland, Germany, Florida and Colorado, she and her late husband, Lanny, found solace and permanence on a high top hill in Sunbright, TN in the late 1980’s. Gigi fell in love with her new community and continuously submersed herself in all things Morgan County. Her service to the residents and visitors of the county brought her great happiness. The most prized job in her lifetime was being the Director for the Chamber of Commerce for Morgan County. She created joy in all of her work there until her retirement in 2015.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Phoebe Manass; a brother, Clyde; a sister, Berneice; her first husband, Patrick Warren Collins; her second husband, Lanny Drue Schooler; and a grand-daughter, Renee Michele Nelson.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Michele Leigh Collins-Curl and Glenn Curl of Sunbright, TN and the “bonus” children that she was blessed with from her late husband, Lanny – Steven Schooler and wife Lori Schooler of Castle Rock, CO; Lannette Sampier and husband Grant Sampier of Castle Rock, CO; and Stacey Schooler Cummings of California. She is also survived by her grandchildren – Ashton Wildberger and husband Taylor Wildberger of Dunkirk, MD; Lindsey Sampier Baker and husband Justin Baker of Erie, CO; Stephanie Sampier Zaleski and husband Adam Zaleski of Pueblo, CO; and Bryce Cummings of California. Lastly, she is survived by 9 great-grandchildren; Natalie Rose Wildberger, Benjamin Allen Wildberger, Amelia Jane Wildberger, Brooke Ann Baker, Cade Grant Greener, Brett Alexander Baker, Kate Elizabeth Baker, Kinsley Ruth Baker, and Levi Clifford Sampier Zaleski.
