On June 7, 2023, Howard William Gosnell went home to be with his Lord and Savior. He was a member of Pilot Mountain Missionary Baptist Church. Howard retired from Highland Telephone Cooperative after 42 years of hard work and dedication. He was an avid antique car collector. Of his car collection, he was particularly fond of his 1964 ½ Ford Mustang. Howard loved sports especially football, racing, and boxing and had many stories to tell reminiscing about his glory days, but most of all Howard was a devoted Christian family man.
He is preceded in death by his daughter Serita Gosnell; parents Burl & Blanche Gosnell; father-in-law & mother-in-law Sam & Glenna Scott; grandson Grant Gosnell; brother James Gosnell; sister Charlene Shaffer and Godson Billy White.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Ruby Gosnell; son and daughter-in-law Harry (Tammy) Gosnell; special niece Melissa (Randy) Winegar; grandchildren Elaine (Adam) Walden, Troy Gosnell, Tori (Jessie) England, Meghan (Justin) Dagley, Alisha (Ryan) Helton, Matt (Melissa) West, and Autumn Nagy; great grandchildren Levi & Chloe England, Logan & Kinsley Walden, Braylee & Teylee Dagley, Brody & Brielle West; brother and sister-in-law Glen (Carlene) Gosnell; sister Wilma Bertram and a host of many other nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends Sunday, June 11, 2023 at Schubert Funeral Home in Wartburg from 1:00-3:00 p.m. with the funeral to follow at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Randy Winegar and Rev. Josh Baldwin officiating. Interment will follow in the Wartburg Cemetery in Wartburg.
