James Hardwick, of Lancing

James Edward Hardwick, age 82, of Lancing departed this life to his eternal home on September 1, 2022.  He was born September 30, 1939.

James was known as a hard-working man who loved farming and loved his grandchildren.  He was a wonderful Dad and Papaw, and he had a special fur buddy, Dixie.  James was saved and baptized in 1957.

He is preceded in death by his parents Doc & Effie Wilson Hardwick; wife Catherine Hardwick; sisters Jackie Will, Ella May Haynes, Mary Jane White and Celia Evertt; brothers Tom & Arlis Hardwick.  

He is survived by his son Darryl (Sue) Hardwick; daughter Angie Sills; grandchildren Chasity (Bobby) Newberry, Derrick (Britney) Sills, Chad Sills, Emily Shannon, Dustin (Jasmine) Hardwick, Dale (Christy) Cunningham Hardwick; great grandchildren Austin Laymance, Logan Laymance, Eli Sills, Callie Walker, Isaac Sills, Caden Sills, Paiton Shannon, Sawyer Shannon, Windsor Griffin, Chesney Griffin and Brock Hardwick; great great grandchildren Chase Laymance; sister Opal Porter and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family members.

The family will receive friends Sunday, September 4, 2022 at Schubert Funeral Home in Wartburg from 12:00-1:00 p.m. with the funeral to follow at 1:00 p.m. with Bro. Mitch Hawn officiating.  Interment will follow in the Forrestner Cemetery in Lancing.
