JOSEPH RILEY KESTERSON age 68 of Crossville, TN departed this life on Friday January 17, 2020. He went home to be with his Lord and Master, friends and loved ones who have gone before him. He was at his home surrounded by his wife and children by his side. He was born October 16, 1951 in Lancing, TN the son of Jefferson Roland and Mary Matilda Stringfield Kesterson.
Joe was well known and loved by everyone he met. A journeyman tool maker by trade, he made his living and provided for his family. Joe was saved at a very young age and had lived his life for the Lord. He was a living example of the love of Christ. He had an unmistakable dynamic voice and sang bass for many years with the Messenger’s Quartet. He loved southern gospel music and had a tremendous love for the great outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman but his greatest love was his family.
Joe is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years- Jewell Ann Kesterson of Crossville, TN, sons- Joseph Roland Kesterson of Crossville, TN and Jared Ryan Kesterson and wife Autumn of Lenior City, TN, daughter- Jaclyn Rae Duncan and husband Allen of Oliver Springs, TN, sisters- Beatrice Huff of Oneida, TN, Jane King of Harrogate, TN and Charlotte Kreis of Lancing, TN , three brother-in-laws and one sister-in-law as well as a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. He is also survived his precious and much loved grandchildren- Barrett Ryan Kesterson and Treva Ryleigh Kesterson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters- Euna Christian, Betty Joyce Pemberton, Lela Ferrell Smith and Ella Frances Robbins and father and mother-in-law- Ira and Betty Sexton, two sister-in-laws and four brother-in-laws.
Funeral services will be held Monday January 20, 2020 at 7:00pm eastern standard time at Pilot Mountain Missionary Baptist Church in Lancing, TN. The family will receive friends on Monday from 4:00pm-7:00pm eastern standard time, prior to the service at the church. Graveside committal will be Tuesday January 21, 2020 at 1:00pm at Wartburg City Cemetery. Rev. Mike McCoy and Rev. Billy Goodman will officiate. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Schubert Funeral Home in Wartburg, TN is in charge of arrangements.
