Sara ”Sally” Brundage Schubert, age 64 of Oak Ridge, departed this life on September 18, 2021. She was born to Cora Hines Brundage and William Emery Brundage of Oak Ridge who both preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 37 years, Roy B. Schubert of Oak Ridge;
stepmother, Carol Fisher Brundage of Fort Mills, SC;
nieces and nephew: Gretchen Schubert Daenell (Aaron) of Palmetto, FL; Thomas Lyles Schubert (Cathy) of Atlanta, GA; Jennifer Schubert Plemmons (Jeremy) of Knoxville, TN; Rebecca Schubert Firoved (Aaron) of Gaithersburg, MD; and
Sarah Elizabeth Schubert of Knoxville, TN;
godchildren: Alex French, Philip Ladd, Mark French, Katy Farnham Stout, and Chelsea Ramos.
She loved and was loved by a series of animals of varying breeds and species throughout her life, too numerous to be named here.
She was a communicant of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Harriman.
A graduate of Oak Ridge High School, she attended the University of South Carolina Upstate in Spartanburg, graduated from the Surgical Technology program of the Tennessee Technology Center in Crossville, TN and attained Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) status.
Sally began work as a travel agent in her mother’s agency, Ridge Travel. An accomplished stitcher, she owned and operated Needle in a Haystack in Knoxville which led to many stitching-engendered friendships.
Her surgical technologist skills came into play as a member of the tissue donor harvesting team of Mountain Region Donor Services. She became a tissue donor herself upon her death.
A nine year survivor of ovarian and endometrial cancers, her general health declined in recent years.
A requiem Eucharist will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, December 11, 2021 at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 190 Circle Drive, Harriman, TN 37748.
