Charline (Swint) Gregg

Charline (Swint) Gregg, age 90, of Lancing, TN, passed away Thursday, January 15, 2026, at Hancock Regional Hospital. She was born in Gobey, TN on June 7, 1935, to Archie and Gertrude (Hall) Swint. Charline graduated from Warburg High School in 1954. She married Arlie A. Gregg on January 22, 1954, in Clinton, Tennessee. Charline worked for Western Electric in Central Packing for twenty-five years before retiring in 1986. She was a member of Elizabeth Baptist Church in Lancing, TN. Along with being a wonderful sister, wife, mother, and grandmother, Charline loved her children, family, and everyone she met.

Charline and her husband were entrepreneurs owning and operating Gregg’s Fashions in Greenfield and Franklin Indiana, all while working full-time until retirement from Western Electric in Indianapolis.

While growing up in the mountains of middle Tennessee Charline was a faithful member of Elizabeth Batist Church in Lancing Tennessee, went and graduated from Wartburg High School, where she was active as a cheerleader.

After retirement Charline and Arlie returned to Tennessee to spend her retirement years back in the mountains with her brothers, sisters, parents and church. 

She is survived by her husband, Arlie A. Gregg; children, Gary L. (Lydia) Gregg, Bryan K. (Rhonda) Gregg, and Jeffrey A. (Tamara Robbins) Gregg; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and siblings, Francine Jones, Jack (Donna) Swint, Judy Griffith, Lilla (Charlie) Settles, Loris Hamby, Mary Davis, and Tom (Vicki) Swint.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Archie and Gertrude Swint; brothers, Archie Lee Swint, Wendel Swint, and Lynn Swint; sister, Ruby Hamby; brothers-in-law, Arnold Hamby, John A. Johns, Lawrence Griffith, and Jerry Hamby; daughter-in-law, Diana L. Gregg; and grandson, Cody A. Gregg.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 19, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Schubert Funeral Home, 1318 Knoxville Hwy, Wartburg, TN 37887. A funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Buster Armes officiating. Burial will follow at Elizabeth Baptist Church Cemetery in Lancing, Tennessee.
