Shelena Baker of Coalfield, TN

Shelena Gouge Baker, 30, passed away on January 1st, 2019 at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge after a long and courageous battle with metastatic breast cancer. She was a member of Big Mountain Baptist Church in Oliver Springs, TN. Shelena came into this world bright-eyed and white-knuckled, and she lived her life with a passion and strength admired by all who knew her. Her vivacious personality, kind heart, and warrior spirit impacted all those with whom she came in contact. She taught us all so many lessons in what it means to be “Shelena Strong,” resilient and unflinching in the face of adversity. Her greatest joy in life came from her three beautiful children, Hayden, Makenzie, and Madison Baker. It was her love for them that pushed her to fight with every ounce of her being and the reason she never gave up, even at the very end. While our hearts are broken that we no longer have her beautiful soul with us here, we have no doubt that she is now and forever will be in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We find comfort in knowing that she is reunited with loved ones, celebrating in a new body that cancer cannot touch, and that she will never know suffering, pain, or death again.
