Anita Morgan, of the Annadell Community, TN

Anita G. Morgan, 87 years old, of Lancing, TN, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by many loved ones, on December 2, 2019.

Anita was born on Greasy Creek to John and Betty Winnie on December 10, 1931.  She went to school in a little one room schoolhouse near Elizabeth Baptist church. She professed her faith in Jesus Christ at the tender age of 8 years old.  She married Roy A. Morgan on October 21, 1949 at the Kingston Courthouse just after her graduation from Central High School in Wartburg.  She was a proud mother of five and dedicated homemaker most of her life. She made a career of hosting, feeding, loving, and nurturing anyone that entered her home which was always a hub of activity for her church, friends, and family.  Her special gift was making people feel welcome and loved, even if they had only just met her.  She had a beautiful alto singing voice and learned to play piano by ear as a young girl.  She and Roy blessed hundreds of fellow churchgoers over the years by singing gospel in area churches. They later formed a gospel group with friend and bass singer, Howard Human, called the “Gospel Jubilees” in which their two daughters, Elaine & Lynita, also sang. Even though our loss is Heaven’s gain, we can take comfort in knowing that she is rejoicing in heaven with all of God’s gentle people.

Anita is preceded in death by her parents, John & Betty Winnie, husband, Roy A. Morgan, and precious grandson, Justin Cory Morgan.  She is also preceded by all 13 brothers and sisters, and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Anita is survived by her Sons: Roy Wade Morgan and wife Paula, Ronald Wayne Morgan & wife Belinda, Gary Lynn Morgan and wife Jayne.  Daughters: Elaine Pugh and husband Mike, & Lynita Loyd and husband Jerry.  She is the beloved grandmother to 24 kids, great grandmother of 31 kids, and great-great grandmother of 4, with 4 more due in the spring of 2020.

Receiving of friends will be Thursday, December 5, 2019 from 1- 3 pm in her home church of over 45 years: Pilot Mountain Missionary Baptist Church. Her memorial service will immediately follow at 3pm, and she will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband, Roy A. Morgan in the Morgan Cemetery, adjacent to the Annadell church cemetery which are near her family home of over 55 years. The church pastor, Josh Baldwin, and former pastor, Charles Webb, will be officiating.  Burial will be immediately following the service.

Pallbearers are her three darling sons, Wade, Ronnie and Gary Morgan, and her four beloved Grandsons: Jeremy, Jordan and Mckenzie Lloyd, and Austin Pugh.
