Cassie Williams of Harriman, TN

Cassie Faye Goad Pelley Williams left the arms of her children to the arms of God on Sunday, January 31, 2021.  She was born in Sunbright, TN on June 16, 1932 to Elbert and Etta Goad.

Cassie was a graduate of Roane County Vocational School and a teacher’s aide in Morgan county until 2002.  She loved working with the children, Miss Amy, and all the staff.   In 1974 she met and married Clifford Williams of Lancing, TN.

She was a lifelong Christian with her church family being Boswell Chapel Baptist Church.  She truly lived her faith.  Her children knew the power of her prayers.

Cassie was a devoted mother and grandmother even as the ravages of Alzheimer took away her independence.  Each child was special to her.  Each grandchild was special to her.  And she was extra special to all of them.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elbert and Etta (Brock) Goad; husbands, Larry Pelley and Clifford Williams; brother, Ray Goad; Sisters, Joyce Goad, Minnie (Noah) Jones, Bessie (Sidney) Howard; and son-in-law, Dr. Steven Thaxton.

Cassie is survived by her three children and their families:  Linda Pelley (Willie) York; Brenda Pelley Thaxton (Dr. Mac) Edington; David (Meg) Pelley. Her sister, Oma Goad (Bud) Cochran, and 9 grandchildren.  They are:  Chad (Shana) York, Darrick (Barbara) York, Eric (Missy) York, Paul (Sally) Thaxton, Stefanie Thaxton, Dr. Sarah Beth Pelley (Dr. Jesse) Lawson, Luke (Chelsea) Pelley, Levi (Summer) Pelley, and Abby Pelley.  Plus, Cassie had numerous great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

The family will have a graveside service Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the Annadell Cemetery in Lancing with Bro. Robert Laymance and Bro. Kerry Ruppe officiating.
