James "Jimmy" Gouge, Jr. of Coalfield, TN

James “Jimmy” Oliver Gouge, Jr., 86, of Coalfield, passed away Monday, March 30th, 2020, after a brave battle with cancer. He was a member of Big Mountain Baptist Church. Though he worked many jobs, Jimmy drove a taxi locally for many years. He enjoyed taking rides with family or friends and pointing out where old landmarks used to be, describing how much the local landscape has changed over the years.

Jimmy loved listening to bluegrass and was a big fan of Bill Monroe. He also enjoyed football and basketball, cheering on his favorite teams:  the Tennessee Vols and the Titans. He was a huge fan of the Lady Vols and Pat Summitt as well. He loved to watch wrestling and never missed a Monday or Thursday night. He also enjoyed watching Judge Judy in the evenings with his sister for many years. While his family and friends will miss him dearly, we find comfort in knowing Jimmy has been healed, reunited with family and friends who went on before him, and will forever be in the presence of God.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Moore Gouge, his son, James “Bud” Gouge, and his parents, James Gouge, Sr and Rena Liles Gouge. Sisters: Wilma Gouge Edwards, Jane Gouge Marsh, Sue Gouge Pelfrey, Kay Gouge Gamble, Carol Windham Daugherty, and Opal Gouge Covington. Brothers: Jerry Gouge and Billy Gouge. Sister-in-law, Jewel Wilson Gouge, and brothers-in-law, Dusty Marsh, Franklin “Joe” Tarner and Loyd Edwards. Nieces: Vanessa Gouge, Sandy Cooper Covington, Shelena Gouge Baker, and Penny Marsh. Nephews: David Edwards, Billy “Lee” Gouge, and Eddie Lee Daugherty.

He is survived by his daughter, Gail Gouge Buckley and husband David, and grandchildren Brandon Kennedy and girlfriend Jessica, Brittany Kennedy, Natalie May and boyfriend Robin, and Josh May. Bonus grandson: Andrew Barry and wife Rachel.  Great grandchildren: Zeven, Colton, Maleigha, Kai, Kieran, Baylee, Ryland, Damien, (Madilyn) Maddie, Kaitlyn, Brooklyn, and (Lillian) Lou Lou.

Sisters: Rose Gouge Tarner, Teena Gouge Jones and husband David, and Susan Gouge Jenkins. Brothers: Eddie Windham and wife Donna, and Frank Windham and wife Sherry. Sister-in-law: Bea West Gouge. Brothers-in-law: Larry Daugherty, Tommy Gamble, and Don Pelfrey.

He is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will miss him tremendously.
