August 11, 1943- May 1, 2021

Shirley C. Shannon, of Sunbright TN went home to be with the Lord on May 1, 2021 at the age of 77.

Shirley was loved and admired by many.  She was kind, caring, and respectful.  Many of her friends and family describe her as always understanding, faithful and compassionate.  She always did her best to help those in need.  Shirley was proud of her family and heritage.  She enjoyed life and traveled to many places.

Shirley was born to James Quintin Hamby and Ruth E. Moore Hamby on August 11, 1943 in Dayton, OH and was a citizen of Sunbright for 38 years.

She married the love of her life, Leamon S. Shannon on April 1, 1961.

After graduating from nursing school in 1972, she worked as an emergency room nurse and for the state of Tennessee until she retired in 2002.

Shirley once said “the only thing I enjoy more than being a nurse, is being a mom”.

She attended the Sunbright Church of God of Prophecy.

She is preceded in death by: Husband of 53 years, Leamon S. Shannon; 2 sisters (Louise Jones, Loretta Hill) and 1 brother (David Hamby) and 1 grandson (Joel Brandon Griffin)

She is survived by her daughter, Jo Ann “Jody” Griffin (Joel Griffin), son Jeffrey L. Shannon; 3 grandchildren, Brandy Mann, Jackson Griffin, Andrew Shannon and 2 step-grandsons; Jason Griffin and John Griffin and 2 great granddaughters.

The family will receive friends Friday, May 7, 2021 from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. at Schubert Funeral Home in Sunbright with the funeral to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Jerry Robbins officiating.  Interment will follow in the Sunbright Cemetery in Sunbright.
